Lander currently entertains ~100 students per year. They come from all over the world and from every university here in the US. We are also a clinical site for Western University of Pomona. This involves food animal education of almost every student that has graduated from Western.
We provide room and board to all students that stay.

Any student from an AVMA Accredited school is encouraged to apply for an externship here at Lander. We have a 6 week time limit on all externs from accredited schools.

We consider applications from all veterinary schools. There are qualifications that must be met to be able to be considered for a externship here at Lander.
You must have medical insurance, a letter stating your occupational intent upon graduation and a letter of recommendation from a faculty member in the food animal section of your university.
We currently limit our externships from foreign schools to 4 weeks.

Students are asked to call the clinic when they are ½ hour away or when they board a plane to Modesto. That allows us time to get someone here to meet you. You are asked to please plan your arrival between the hours of 9am and 7pm.
If you fly into San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose or Fresno you will need to arrange for your own transportation to the clinic. If you are arriving in Modesto we can pick you up from the airport.
